  7. At the start of the Great Patriotic War, the 15th Tank Division was attached to 18th Army stationed in the Ukraine to watch the Romanian frontier. When the Germans poured into southern Ukraine, the newly formed 15th Tank Division was called upon to halt the invading hordes. Lead elements of a panzer division had seized a small nameless village, and the green tankers from the 15th Tank Division were ordered to take it back.
